Legislature International is issuing a call for nominations for the 2023 edition of International Peace and Security (IPS) award. This year’s theme addresses conflict-related violence and gender-based violence (GBV), which are not only serious human rights violations, but also a threat to international peace and security. Such violence inflicts long-term harm and trauma on survivors and communities.
Legislature International calls on us to recognize special community leaders as powerful agents of change.
In honour of our global involvement, Legislature International launched its Award Program in 2023. These awards recognize those who have gone above and beyond to advance their community by highlighting excellence in research and civil society leadership.

Please note that these award does not include a monetary prize. Recipients will be recognized during both virtual and in person award ceremony and will receive a PDF/Hard copy certificate.

The LGBT+ Allyship Programme provides organizations with training, information, advice and guidance to support them in creating and maintaining an LGBT+ Allies Team within their organization.
We believe that having a designated 2SLGBT+ Allies Team in your organization will ensure better 2SLGBT+ awareness and inclusion, stronger support for your service users and staff, and make your organization a safer space for all 2SLGBT+ people.
A 2SLGBT+ Allies Team will have an active role in your organization to ensure any issues relating to 2SLGBT+ inclusion are identified and appropriately addressed. Although the time-commitment can be fairly minimal, the impact can be huge!
2SLGBT+ Allies will be trained by our Training & Education Team through a general 2SLGBT+ Awareness and Inclusion Training, possibly alongside other staff from your organization, and then will undertake more advanced training in what it means to be a 2SLGBT+ Ally and how to create your 2SLGBT+ Allyship Team.
Initial 2SLGBT+ Awareness Training: We expect a minimum of 50% of all staff in your organization undertakes this initial training but we recommend all staff undertake the training, if possible. This training aims to provide participants with greater knowledge and confidence in understanding and supporting people from the 2SLGBT+ community and how to be more 2SLGBT+ inclusive.
2SLGBT+ Allyship Training: Following the initial 2SLGBT+ Awareness and Inclusion Training staff can put themselves forward to become part of your Allies Team. Those who are selected will receive additional training focussing on what it means to be a 2SLGBT+ Ally and how to create your organization’s 2SLGBT+ Allies Team.
Ongoing support, information, advice and guidance: In addition to training, the 2SLGBT+ Allies Team will have access to an agreed amount of ongoing support from our Team through email support, information, advice and guidance. The amount of support will be agreed upon depending on the size of your organization.
What do you get for participating in the LGBT+ Allyship Programme?
What does it cost?
The cost will depend on the size of your organization as this will dictate the number of initial training sessions and ongoing support you will need. Please contact our Training & Education Manager for more information: training@legislator.com
How long does the award last?
The Initial 2SLGBT+ Awareness and Inclusion Training and LGBT+ Allies Team Training will usually be conducted over a 6-8 week period (3 separate short sessions). The information, advice and guidance support is then available for a year after completion of the training.
Beyond this, we would anticipate schools, colleges and Universities will have the knowledge and confidence to continue this work with very little support from Legislature International, although additional support can be provided. We would expect refresher training and a review of practices to take place again after 2 years.
